L’eterno e la clessidra : il tempo nella poesia di Fernanda Romagnoli

Résumé

There are many kinds of time: lost time and time regained; passing time and enduring time (recalling Bergson’s theories). Whether illusory as for Parmenides, or absurd as for Zeno; whether inferior to eternity as for Plato or interiorized as for Augustine, whether absolute or relative, humans can’t help being immersed in time, enveloped in time, faced with time. In that way, speaking about time could appear worthless: who writes usually builds dykes and fences to protect himself against the flow of time. Nevertheless, the tortured relationship between Fernanda Romagnoli and time is quite obvious from her first poems. According to her, time is irreversible and it pierces right through her body, making it bleeding. It is right from this tragic bond between the poet and time that many verses arise. This paper would like to show the consequences of this particular relationship in the poetry of Fernanda Romagnoli both on a stylistic and a thematic perspective.
